Cepparello Super Tuscan Isole & Olena 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes: From the beautiful mantle ruby color with purple reflections, clear consistency. Large and deep dall'aristocratico bouquet of purple, pink, cherry, more and raspberry, sweet spices, coffee and eucalyptus, with notes of undergrowth and graphite. It remains to mark enchanted with absolute correspondence, flavourings previously received, extraordinarily balanced, despite the exuberance. The persistence is very red, very long, interminable and great pleasure. A classical refinement

This is rich and savory on the nose with gamey scents adding depth to the notes of straw, mineral, and floral tones that float above a nice bed of strawberry fruit. This has great sweetness yet remains transparent and ethereal on entry, with an elegance that extends across the palate. The flavors are quite earthy and leathery with fine mineral tones, while the fruit remains astringent and red through the palate and onto the finish. The overall feel in the mouth is one of freshness and precision, with a nice spicy tone on the finale, which could be a bit longer. All in all a beautiful bottle of Sangiovese. 93pts

I loved this wine and bought six bottles for the wine rack. Very fruity with a nice mouth filling smooth finish. This a great estate in Barberino Val d'Elsa, Tuscany (not Washington as it says here). The other estate there, Pasolini Dall'Onda has my favorite Chianti Classico. It is very hard to find in the US though.

"Dark ruby. Perfumed nose of red cherry and strawberry is clean and fresh. Boasts copious floral, minty red berry and red cherry flavors of lovely purity, with a smooth yet vibrant texture nicely firmed by an edge of acidity. Very fine entry-level Chianti."
