Celler Can Blau "Can Blau" Montsant 2009
91 points Wine Spectator: Cherry, pomegranate, mountain herb and smoke notes mingle in this expressive red. There's a gentle texture, yet well-integrated tannins provide structure and bright acidity enlivens the floral finish. Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha. Drink now through 2015. (2/29/12)
In a word - DAMN! All the hype said outstanding (Just the label gives it that..,thinks 60's party.) Loads of blueberry, blackberry, forest accents, cocoa and anise with a light citrus around the edge. A minor woody note and warm spice round out the nose - well not the nose, but the aromas. The mid-palate is juicy wet with sweet tannins that are pulling yet smooth. The forest earthy element is tweaked by a citrus notes that only serves to accent the well heeled dark berry fruits. This was fabulous, an outstanding effort. Drink now to 2016 - Paul 90 points

Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha. Drink now through 2015. 7,500 cases made. -TM The 2009 Can Blau is made up of 40% Carinena, 40% Syrah, and 20% Garnacha aged for 12 months in French oak. Wood smoke, spice box, incense, lavender, black cherry and plum aromas are followed by a mouth-filling, round, dense wine with outstanding grip and length. It over-delivers in a big way. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. (40% each of carinena and syrah, plus 20% garnacha): Ruby-red. Red and dark berries, cherry-cola and tobacco on the spice-accented nose. Taut, focused and elegant, with firm cherry and redcurrant flavors underscored by bitter chocolate and black pepper. A bitter cherry skin note lingers on the tight, spicy finish. No excess fat here.
