Cellars Baronia Montsant Flor d'Englora Negre Jove 2006

Member Review by scotchlife:

This "young red" as described by the maker was very affordable at about $9 at Costco so I gave it a try. It appeared a deep violet yet not dark purple, not thin. The bouquet was light, fruity, nothing big. Taste was interesting. It hit my tongue like a flash, the acids were noticeable to me but it settled down on the tongue quickly. I noticed a lot of spice and the tannins were firm but light. I found this wine to be approaching "chewy" but not quite. NOT inclined after first taste to repurchase. ******** Tasted two days later after corking and restoring in the wine frig. MUCH better! I was surprised! Almost like what air got in tamed this one and I found it very enjoyable. Smooth and Silky. I will try another bottle with the aerator I just got. This one wants to breathe!

I'll admit that I am in no way a wine fan. I was at Costco of all places and liked the description they gave of this wine and decided to try it. Again I'm not a wine fan but I really enjoy this wine. It's not as dry as other reds I have tried and the taste is very sharp at first and then smooths out, I like that. I went back this evening and bought a few more bottles. I don't know if its the region this wine comes from, but it has encouraged me to try other spanish wines.
