Cellar No. 8 Zinfandel North Coast 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

Rich, ruby red in color, this Zinfandel presents aromas of boysenberry and raspberry fruit with a hint of brown spice and vanilla in the background. The berry fruit transfers to the palate with a jammy introduction that develops into red licorice and strawberry flavors. By mid-palate, the complex flavors of the fruit balance effortlessly with the slight hint of black pepper from the Petite Syrah and the cedar and spice notes from the French and American oak. Well-structured tannins support the lingering jammy fruit notes that continue throughout a long finish. The blend of 81% Zinfandel, 12% Carignane and 7% Petite Sirah was aged 11 months in French and American oak barrels, 30% new. Vineyards farmed for this Zinfandel are located at high elevations in Mendocino and Lake Counties, and consist of volcanic, restrictive soils that stress the vines for maximum fruit density and flavor. California Wine Finds | Good Value! This blueberry-scented red is simple and great for barbecue. Wine & Spirits | June 2005This is a nice combination for Zinfandel - high quality and high production, a rarity for this grape...I was impressed with the wine's quality, and its aromas of wild blackberry and black cherry and its palate-pleasing/coating jammy flavors of black cherry, blackberry and boysenberry...Nicely balanced, medium-bodied and with soft tannins that make it imminently drinkable.Original Price: $10.00Sale Price: $8.9910% Off Less than 3 cases left!
