Cecchi Toscana Bonizio 2012
Wine Tasting Notes Intense red with violet reflections. Intense and complex, with lots of cherry and earthy aromas. Soft, round palate with flavors of fresh berries and some spices. With its well-rounded acidity and mild tannins, Bonizio is extrememly versatile and pairs with a wide range of fowl, meat and pasta dishes. Great with barbeques.
Unfortunately, many people put this wine in the database without any vintage information. I rated the 2009 vintage of this wine. A great bargain wine at under $10. This is a clear, medium(-) intensity, ruby colored wine that has legs. It has a clean, developing nose of red cherry and raspberry. It has medium acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, and medium body. It has medium intense flavors of red cherry, raspberry and oak with a medium length finish. It is a good, low priced wine that will improve in the bottle.
This is a really nice inexpensive smooth red wine. Excellent for those everyday Italian meals. Would recommend highly!

Tonight I'm enjoying a bottle of my office wine club's latest selection, the 2008 Bonizio Sangiovese di Maremma! You know how much I love wine and my wine club buddies, so this is bound to be something fun. Now many of you are probably already quite familiar with the Sangiovese grape, the foundational grape in so many wonderful wines of Tuscany, from classic Chianti to the king of the hill, Brunello di Montalcino. Well, unlike a typical Sangiovese, the Sangiovese di Maremma comes from the southern and western section of the region, where a combination of the warmer climate and red soil provides for a more robust varietal. Nice little Tuscan... needs to breathe when opened, and temperature is key with this wine.

A chilled red wine, and with sangiovese no less. Really unique. Light, strawberry, watermelon notes with rose petals. A very dry and acidic finish - which is where it differs most from a chilled rose. Very interesting.
