What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Caymus Vineyards began their Conundrum line with the first vintage in 1989. Winemaker, John Bolta set out to produce a food-friendly, blended white wine that could match the complex flavors being offered by innovative chefs. What resulted is a delightful blend of five different grape varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat canelli, Semillon and Viognier. Conundrum eventually became a seperate brand of Caynus Vineyards.

In the glass, this wine has a bright, clear, pale yellow hue. On the nose, I was reminded or a floral, citric bouquet that I thought was very alluring. read more...

You want to like it a lot less than you will end up doing. Consider the foods it's intended to be paired with---and that explains the Muscat canelli. Conundrum succeeds on many more levels than you'd think possible. We convert so many people to this on Cape Cod in the summers. It will please a crowd and spare you the tedium of offering half a dozen different white wine selections with casual fare.

Wow, the person who did the initial write up of this wine is DEAD on regarding the "flavors" of this little beauty!

This is a nice, smooth and drinkable white wine which is perfect for Summer. I enjoy it with fish or just to drink alone while sitting outside in my lawn.

My first time drinking this was at Connor's Steak and Seafood in Huntsville,AL. A plane buddy of mine suggested it and bought a bottle. My, it was so crisp and smooth. Lately I've been drinking only blended; chardonnays have this buttery flavors that I’m not too fond of. This wine won me over.

My favorite white! Pairs well with all food types, and who doesn't love a screw top?! Very refreshing and fruity.
