Caymus Spec Sel 750m 2009
Not yet reviewed; 2008 vintage rated 98 points by James Suckling: This is mind-blowing on the nose with sweet tobacco, chocolate, cedar, cigar box, and licorice. Full-bodied and round with a bright and velvety tannin structure. Starts off slow, but then flies away. This is fabulous. Intense finish. Delicious today, but will be even better after 2013.
Dry and airy with medium body, fruity with a soft palate. Good nose
One of my favorite wines. Smooth, deep, with a lasting and rolling finish on the tongue. Deep berries and a subtle smokiness are lasting on the palette. You can never go wrong with this wine!
Smooth and full bodied that finished dry at the end.

Charlie Wagner founded Caymus Vineyards in 1972 and has made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon every year since its founding. Caymus focuses entirely on this variety and the winery's 60-plus acres of estate Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley's Rutherford District forms the foundation of Caymus' Cabernet every vintage. And every vintage Caymus Cabernet is snapped up by Cab lovers and collectors while it's lauded by critics. The 2009 scored 91 points by the Wine Spectator who said "Supple and creamy-textured, with mocha, ripe plum and cherry flavors that show touches of tobacco, espresso and underbrush. Full-bodied, gaining tannic traction on the finish, elegant and readily approachable. Drink now through 2018."
With a lovely, expressive nose, the aromas are constantly evolving from blackberry to raspberry to kirsch, framed by chocolate and floral accents. On the palate, supple tannins and subtle wood notes add complexity to the primary fruit. The texture is... Devon Magee. In typical Caymus fashion, the 2009 Cabernet shows remarkable balance and is imminently drinkable, even in its youth.

The latest vintage of Caymus Vineyards Benchmark Napa Valley Cabernet has just been released and fans will not be disappointed. While the current vintage hasn't been rated, Wine Spectator rated the 2009 vintage for Napa Valley Cabernet 94-97 points. In typical Caymus fashion, the 2009 Cabernet shows remarkable balance and is imminently drinkable, even in its youth.
Elegant and refined. Pleasant fruit, spice and cedar flavors, complex aftertaste. Caymus fans note: A Special Selection wasnrsquo;t made in rsquo;93; the estate grapes went into this wine.
hellip;still a deep, dark ruby/purple-colored wine with a tight but promising nose of blackcurrants and sweet vanillin, toasty oak. This backward wine is full-bodied, dense, powerful, as well as tannic. It will benefit from 2ndash;3 more years of cellaring, and keep for 12ndash;15 years.
