Editorial Reviews for Cave de Turckheim Gewürztraminer Alsace Aoc Sables et Galets
On the rich side with an almost viscous texture, this has benefitted from 2 years in the cellar. The pear and bitter orange pith fruit is well balanced and framed by gentle suggestions of mineral and almond milk. This is a big wine that doesn’t lack for alcohol and may be a bit too soft for some palates but it does offer an interesting take on the style and would be a great match for a creamy, rich chicken and mushroom soup. 86pts
Nice smooth white wine. Floral, white fruit aromas. Creamy texture and good mouth feel.
Liked this even better with some age on it, this wine was medium gold in color. Aromas of apple, honeysuckle, and chamomile. Palate was full of apples, with crisp citrus notes, some herbal nuance. Had with Thanksgiving 07.
Very good white rhone blend. Viognier is evident in the aromas and first sips, which are floral and perfumed. Crisp citrus flavors and a juicy finish. Excellent balance.

Wine Tasting Notes65% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot BlancBatar reaches its full maturity about 42 months, after harvest. Before maturity, just like its Cousins of Burgundy, the wine may tend to shut down and to appear tight at tasting. Therefore, we strongly advise you not to consume it before it has reached maturity, about 3 and a half to 4 years after harvest, in order to enjoy it at its maximum potential. The maturity plateau is 4 to 12 years after harvest.

Yellow-gold color. Sexy aromas of ripe apricot pear honey and nutty oak show a distinctly exotic side. Then supersweet and concentrated on the palate showing more sheer sweetness and power than any particular flavor component. Almost sugary on the finish but long and quite unevolved. Today this gives the impression of being a wine with too much of everything: I d lay it down for a decade. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
The 2005 Cotes de Tablas is better than the 2004. This blend of 43% Grenache, 24% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah, and the rest Counoise, shows complex notes of soy, roasted meat, black cherry, currant, resin, a... Robert Parker. Cave de Turckheim is situated in the pretty village of Turckheim, just slightly north west of Colmar. Firmly established as one of the best co-operatives in the world Cave de Turckheim always pays the utmost respect for the wine, combining rigour, know-how and patience with the latest technology and a steady stream of investment. Michel Lihrmann has been their senior winemaker for over 25 years and strongly believes that varietals in Alsace should express their delicate characteristics and favours the dryer style of Alsace wines. Cave de Turckheim produce an extensive range of wines, from their value-for-money Cave Tradition varietal range to the wines from 3 different Grand Crus. Central to Cave de Turckheim’s success is their willingness to innovate; two years ago they launched the Réserve range to great acclaim, and 2006 sees the launch of the Terroir D’Alsace range (formerly Lieux-Dit), a label change for their signature Grand Cru range and the launch of the Turckheim Pinot Grigio - a dry style Pinot Gris.Grapes are selected from vineyards with diverse soils - limestone, granite, gravel, marl and sandstone - which impart different characters and styles to the overall blend, and harvested by hand and machine, depending on site. Matured in wood it has red fruits aromas, and a harmonious palate, combined with pleasant tannins.Ideal with charcuterie.
