Blackberry nose with a bit of tobacco and earth, following to the palate. Very light and smooth in the mouth, surprising given the varietals. Much more developed than previous tastings. Excellent - 88 points.

Decanted 30 min. Nose is dark berry fruit. First taste screams "YOUNG". Lots of bright fruit, with soft tannins, followed by a somewhat bitter finish. I believe this wine is meant to be drank young, and if that is the case, it's not for me.

Nice earthiness, going with the blackberry fruit quite well.

Of our many Bordeaux-style wines we produce, our Cabernet/Merlot blend is the most approachable. The intent of our "Cab/Merlot" is to broaden our flavor spectrum of full-bodied red wines. This wine takes the softest qualities of the two varietals and blends them together to produce a young and appealing wine that retains some of the tannin from its parent wines. Our Cabernet/Merlot presents a more youthful approach to a red wine. The Merlot component lends a more aged-tannin feel, while the Cabernet tops it with brighter fruit qualities and short "bursts" of tannin. The resulting blend is an exquisite array of full textures with bright fruit highlights. We age our Cab/Merlot for up to 11 months in oak barrels, and bottle the final blend as young-drinking red wine. Even though its heritage lends to a full bottle aging potential, it is a wonderful wine while served young and pleases most red wine admirers.

Ok....so it doesn't really taste like a veggie smoothie, but this cab-merlot had so many vegetal notes that the title seemed fitting. The nose was filled with green-beans an green peppers. The mouthfeel was not surprising...following through with those tastes of vegetables and gripping your mouth in an almost aggressive way (aggressive, not offensive). My only issue was that this wine had a strong front and back-end, but tended to drop-off in the middle in terms of both flavor and intensity - which wasn't too much of an issue, because after the drop-off, the flavors continued. I wish I could draw a graph to explain further...Solid wine - could probably use a few years in the cellar....

Veggie lovers, rejoice! This wine has what you want, what you need, and all at a great price! There are distinct aromas of basil, jalapeno and anaheim peppers that definitely make me want to dive in! The peppers dominate the palette with a nice currant note in there for good measure. The finish falls off a tad, but all in all, this is a great wine that even a meat-eater can enjoy!
