Quite an alluring aroma, especially berries both raspberry and blackberry. Very smooth tannins and, a pleasure to the palette and on the finish. This is high, if not the top of my list for Argentine Malbecs. Highly recommend.

Really good quality for the price. Wonderful opening, very fruitful.
The nose is a little swampy at first, then a lovely maple syrup note comes across. Then the wine explodes into flavor as it enters the mouth, with bright berries followed a delicious note of stewed prunes. The texture may be a little chalky at first, but give it time to open up. Very nice Malbec, not much to say about the nose and finish other than it was within expectations as a Malbec. $17.95 SDWC
Had the 2010 Notes of raspberry, dark cherries, plum, and chocolate with undertones of loam and earth
Light mouthfeel. Fruity, but not sweet. Medium length finish.

Bright ruby-red. Blackberry, redcurrant, licorice, violet and pepper on the nose, plus a whiff of game. Creamy, concentrated and sweet, with a seamless texture to the high-toned blackberry and saline flavors. Offers a thickness of texture and a well-judged sugar/acid balance. Finishes quite long, with very suave tannins.
The 2009 Catena Malbec was aged in 35% new French and American barriques for 14 months. Balsam wood, earthy minerals, spice box, lavender, and black cherry aromas compose the winersquo;s inviting bouquet. Spicy and savory in the glass, with ample black cherry and black raspberry flavors, this nicely proportioned Malbec is an outstanding value meant for drinking over the next 4ndash;5 years.
Appealing yet timid aromas of black fruits are found in the nose of the 2003 Catena Malbec. There are 25,000 cases of this fresh, focused wine. Redolent with red as well as black fruits and violets, its personality is medium-bodied and expressive. Its long finish reveals loads of tannin. Projected maturity: 2006ndash;2012.
Balsamic vinegar and earth aromas get it started, with baked fruit and chocolate playing second fiddle. Solid, spicy and in no way flabby; in fact, itrsquo;s rather firm on the palate. Not quite rich and fruity enough to make the highest echelon, but still a very good Malbec.
Smooth and ripe, this winersquo;s firm texture is covered by sweet black cherry flavors and vanilla and cinnamon scents. It feels sweetened by alcohol, but there is enough acidity to enhance the fruit. Serve with a rack of lamb.
Ruby-red. Subdued, brooding aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. A sweet, fat, pliant fruit bomb, with flavors of cherry, red plum and licorice complicated by fresh herbs. Slightly exotic in the middle palate. Fairly large-scaled wine with good finishing fruit. This rather user-friendly wine makes a very good ambassador for malbec from Argentina.
Great aromas of crushed blueberry and raspberry, with a juicy texture and well-integrated toast and mineral notes. Nice blast of pure fruit on the finish. Drink now through 2009.
The 2009 Catena Malbec presents a dark, violet color with deep black tones. This microclimate blend of four unique vineyard sites offers intense aromas with a soft generous texture and concentrated flavors. Angelica vineyard lends ripe plum and chocolate flavors with a very soft, supple mouthfeel. Altamira vineyard brings a core of black currant and cassis, with excellent structure and length. La Piramide vineyard offers blackberry fruit with a slight earthy tone and notes of spicy black pepper. Finally, the Adrianna vineyard lends exceptional concentration with explosive floral aromatics. Together they give birth to a complex blend of aromas and flavors - a wine with excellent concentration, balance and freshness.
