Catalina Sounds Pinot Noir Moutere 2007
Colour: Deep blood red with some copper hues around the edges. Nose: Plum, strawberry, some earthiness, spice and dried herbs. Palate: Supple with medium weight and density--consistent weight throughout the palate with a dried herb and smoky finish. Open an hour or two prior to drinking and enjoy the discovery as Catalina Sounds Pinot Noir evolves in the glass. Food match: Delicate game dishes or lamb on a bed of roasted vegetable couscous. Winemaker's Comments: This wine combines elegance with fruit richness, is balanced and displays fleshy plum and savoury fruit characters with a classic Pinot dried herb and meaty influence. When young, this wine will be predominantly more fruit forward, but will develop more spice and leather notes as it evolves and gains complexity.
A lovely Pinot Noir for under $20. Open, lacy crushed raspberry and mineral aromas and flavors, with a little bit of earth. Terrific, silky texture, again very open and airy. Nice concentration in the juicy finish. Fruity and lacking the complexity to put it into the outstanding category, this was still a wonderful bottle of wine.
Smooth, some raspberry and pepper with a short and bitter finish. Good - 82 points.
