External Reviews for Castoro Cellars Syrah Paso Robles Blind Faith
Paso Robles Syrah is piquing the interest of many people in wine circles. The Castoro Cellars 1999 Syrah was very well received by Robert Parker in his publication and the 2003 was a Double-Gold Medal Winner. The 2005 grapes for this wine were sourced from our Blind Faith Estate vineyard. In the aroma you will find a high intensity and balance of berry fruits, violets and oak. The mouth feel has characteristically moderate levels of tannin, yet is lush. The bright fruit and oak flavors linger on the palate. The moderate acidity and appealing level of astringency make for a versatile wine that pairs well with anything from appetizers to heavy meat dishes.

This was not a typical Syrah nose or mouthfeel by any means. The nose has earthy tones leaning towards a smell of compost (which some may not like, but I do). The mothfeel has tones of toffee, a little heat from alcohol, and higher levels of tannins than I would have expected, which makes this wine great to serve with food! Too bad I did not have any at the time...
This Syrah is sure to surprise at your next blind tasting! The Blind Faith Syrah has floral components wafting over nice solid tones of anise, toffee and cherries. The cherries carry into the flavors on the palette, accompanied by ripe blackberry notes and cedar. The finish carries great flavors of rich espresso - a great Syrah and at 13.1% alcohol content you can have another glass, guilt free!
