User Reviews for Castle Rock Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
Add your reviewThis wine had mostly cherry fruit flavors to me. A little earthiness was present as well. This wine has a smooth medium body with a slightly rounded mouthfeel. Easy tannins with a fine texture.
YUCK! The nose of this wine is rather pleasant, but once in the mouth, the wine disappoints. There is nothing "Zinfandel" about this wine whatsoever. Unfortunately, I have another bottle...that will be used for cooking.
Pale ruby color with moderate aromas of cherry, baking spice, wild strawberry, violets, and rose petals. This Pinot is dry, medium bodied, has fresh acidity, weak soft tannins and a long finish. On the palate are moderate flavors of cherry, raspberry, and a touch of brown sugar. A fruity juicy California Pinot Noir though not entirely complex it is a lot of fun. 3/5

Oak, some tart cherry, and a bit of acid. As it opens more, notes of cola and earth began to come through and the acid really zings almost suggesting a touch of effervescence. Some raspberry on the finish.
Wine Tasting NotesOur Castle Rock Pinot Noir was produced from grapes grown in Northern Californias beautiful Mendocino County, where vineyards were first planted in the early 1860s. Here, the headwaters of the Russian River carve a fertile and rugged landscape. The warm summers, cool springs, crisp falls and wet winters make ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir grapes, in a climate similar to that of the Burgundy region of France, where the grapes were first established. This elegant and medium-bodied wine has delicate aromas of violet and rose petals, complex flavors and long silky textures, with layers of strawberry and raspberry leading into a long refined finish.
Winemaker's Notes:
For sale by case. Our Castle Rock Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from grapes grown in Californias Paso Robles growing region. Here, the Santa Lucia Mountain Range helps to create a climate which provides ideal growing conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with hot summer days and cool nights. This is a classic, rich Cabernet Sauvignon with a dark purple color and expressive aromas of black cherry and spice. On the palate the wine is intense, luscious and full-bodied with a rich core of berry and earthy flavors, and there are hints of spice and vanilla in its long harmonious finish. It makes an excellent companion to beef, lamb, venison and most cheeses.
