Castle Rock Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Reserve 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

For sale by the case. We carefully handcrafted only 2,800 cases of the 2007 Castle Rock Reserve Pinot Noir. The grapes were harvested from vines grown in the Russian River Valley, one of Californias most prestigious grape growing appellations. Here, the fog-cooled climate and well-drained soils provide ideal growing conditions for grapes which produce some of the finest wines in the world. This supple, medium-bodied wine offers rich complex layers of plum, cherry, sweet vanilla oak, spice, cinnamon and floral notes, with a long velvety finish.

Ruby-colored medium-bodied Pinot. The Russian River Valley is one of the best areas for producing Pinot Noir in California. This Pinot is full of black cherry and spice aromas. The taste has oak, spice, and earthy quality. Mild tannins with a nice smooth, slightly smoky finish.

I have no specific reason for it but I prefer the less acclaimed willamette valley.
