This elegant Chardonnay offers a rich, ripe and fruity character with a delicious blending of vanilla, pear citrus and melon flavors, subtle oak undertones and a long, balanced finish.

Vintage: 2009 11/13/2010

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Castle Rock has long garnered CGCW success when it comes to priceworthy Pinot Noir, and this Chardonnay is right on target when it comes to value. It is keyed on bright, slightly citrusy fruit and shows a little more richness and depth than its modest price tag predicts. It is clean, firmly balanced and always true to the grape, and it rates as a bonafide Best Buy.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.

"Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. A second fine value from Castle Rock

Vintage: 2009 11/13/2010

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. A second fine value from Castle Rock, this fresh and faintly floral effort runs to green apples and pears without any evident oak. It is juicy and rounded and wholly gulpable now, and it should work as a friendly, workaday white in washing down the likes of grilled chicken or a wide range of milder seafood fare.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.

Wine Tasting NotesThis elegant, barrel fermented Chardonnay offers a rich, ripe and fruity character with a delicious blending of vanilla, pear, citrus and melon flavors, subtle oak undertones and a long, balanced finish. Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, the wine was barrel fermented and aged for nine months, including six months of lees contact, using a combination of new French oak barrels, as well as two-to-three year old French and American oak barrels. One of Californias most exceptional Central Coast vineyards produced the grapes for fine Chardonnay.

Winemaker's Notes:

"Our Castle Rock Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in some of the finest vineyards in California’s Central Coast region. Here the warm sunshine and cooling ocean breezes provide an ideal climate for growing Chardonnay grapes, which remain on the vine a full month longer than in other regions, leading to a characteristic depth of flavor. This elegant Chardonnay offers a rich, ripe and fruity character with a delicious blending of vanilla, pear, citrus and melon flavors, subtle oak undertones and a long, balanced finish. In any season this Castle Rock Chardonnay will complement most cuisines and is an especially pleasing accompaniment to fish, poultry and lightly sauced entrees. " -Winery
