The robe (appearance) of this wine is lighter than expected and the nose is muted, though with herbal, vinous and sour red berry (wild bog cranberry) scent. In some ways, the palate gets an old fashioned Chianti - one watered down by white varieties (though this is not the case here, empirically). Very easy on the tongue, balanced for early drinking, but none of the character the Brunello clone is expected to impart. 84 points.

Rossos are always great values and this one, from Massimo Ferragamo's exquisite vineyard in Montalcino, is no exception. The wine is supple and sweet with a good touch of spice; soft and lush on the palate and deliciously drinkable.
