This offers up lovely aromas of smoky, spicy apricots and candied lime rind with a piercing floral note and waxy background notes of nutmeg and mace. Fairly sweet on entry, this has very good balance as the acid kicks in on the mid-palate. The flavors are deep and rich with a core of treacle edged in luscious orange marmalade, fig and caramel tones. The medium length finish offers a touch of apricot pit and honeycomb before reverting to dried orange tones. A lot of value here. 92pts

Surprised by the value of this honey-colored wine. Aromas of pineapple, coconut, and honey. Good acidity on the palate, which tasted of pineapple dipped in honey and deepened and gained weight as the wine opened up. Very drinkable, and a no brainer at under $20/375ml. Had with cheese and fruit for dessert.

This is a medium bodied, very sweet Sauternes with good botrytis in the style of the big Suduiraut. Possibly as good as the first wine, this one offers an amazing price/quality! Not your average desert wine!

This always has absolutely rave reviews from our customers, and is one of my personal favourites. At £10.95 per bottle it is a real bargain! http://www.fromvineyardsdirect.com/wine/suduiraut.php

The apple does not fall far from the tree with 2003 Castelnau de Suduiraut. In fact it resembles the Grand Vin (Cheateau Suduiraut) to a great degree. Beautiful 24k gold color with a light orange/ golden rim. Notes of botrytis, honeyed apricot, orang... Alex Lallos. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2003 Castelnau De Suduiraut 375ml

Winemaker's Notes:

As a host or hostess, serving a beautiful Sauternes elevates dinner into dinning. More than any wine that may have preceded it during the dinner, including your best red, a carefully chosen dessert wine will be the wine that your guests remember... because in today's abbreviated approach to dinner, enjoying a delicious Sauternes is so rarely experienced. 2003 Castelnau de Suduiraut offers the lush sweetness that is characteristic of great Sauternes. Sweet, but with excellent acidity but that leaves the palate cleansed and refreshed. Made at the Premier Cru Estate of Ch. Suduiraut... an Estate that dates back to the 16th Century, Castelnau is one of the best values from the appellation. At the price, you can't find a better dessert wine.Castelnau is a blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon. This is fermented in new oak barrels and then aged for 24 months in second year barrels. The wine shows a beautiful golden colour, sign of great concentration. The powerful nose exhibits notes of crystallized fruits, spices and toasted aromas, adding freshness in the aftertaste. After a powerful attack, the wine is very generous in the mouth, again with aromas of crystallized. Lush sweetness that is honey on the palate with spicy flavors and a beautiful freshness. The wine is nectar quality, both powerful and elegant, is a perfect expression of the vintage with a great potential for ageing. Food & Wine PairingsGoes Great with: Cheese: Stilton, gorgonzola.Baked fruits, Light cakes, Chocolate-based cakes, pies and brownies, Cookies
