Castello Monaci Salento Rosato Kreos 2016

External Review:

This blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera (made in the saignee method) hails from Salento in Puglia. A bright salmon color has little color change to the rim. Expressive notes of candied cherry strawberry and raspberry fill the bouquet. Secondary tones soon emerge of minerals red flowers and a touch of spice. The palate is dry and quite powerful for rosato. There is an intense limestone minerality that finishes up with a touch of spice. Surprisingly there is still enough underlying acidity

Dug out of subterranean rock, the geometric-shaped cellar houses 1,000 barriques and modern temperature-controlled systems that allow small parcels of grapes to be vinified separately. Read less

Surprisingly there is still enough underlying acidity in this wine to keep it in balance even though it hails from such a warm growing area. This is ready to sip on a warm summer afternoon or while enjoying a sunset. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
