This blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera (made in the saignee method) hails from Salento in Puglia. A bright salmon color has little color change to the rim. Expressive notes of candied cherry strawberry and raspberry fill the bouquet. Secondary tones soon emerge of minerals red flowers and a touch of spice. The palate is dry and quite powerful for rosato. There is an intense limestone minerality that finishes up with a touch of spice. Surprisingly there is still enough underlying acidity in this wine to keep it in balance even though it hails from such a warm growing area. This is ready to sip on a warm summer afternoon or while enjoying a sunset. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
