A touch meaty and first then turning very floral with a touch of wood spice, quite spicy fruit, black cherry, sweet almost red-hot cinnamon (-), very floral. Medium light on entry with nice acids and soft tannins. There is good depth of flavor with twisty herbal and mineral veins that offset the sour cherry/ red currant fruits. A classic austere character that is fairly richly flavored and finishes with nutty, slightly bitter amarena cherry tones. 88pts
A bit estery but quite intense and fruity with wild strawberry tones on the nose with hints of leather and forest floor. With air and adds a nice mineral/rain water note and a hint of flowers. Very light fresh and pure with marginal tannins and juicy acids that are a bit hard on their own. Finishes with a touch of herb and sand. Correct and simple if a touch lean. 84pts
Quite rustic on the nose with burnt wood and lots of ripe cherries. Deep, dark blackberry flavors. Juicy, flavorful and rich, mellowing into chocolate towards the finish.
Cherry nose with burnt twig and forest floor notes. Soft anise flavors to start, medium acidity and quite a light body. This builds over time and the wine finishes with more power on the backend.
Very light nose with hints of cherry. In the mouth this wine is either still too young & closed or one that just doesn't have much fruit to offer, but 2006 leads me to believe the latter. The wine left me wanting and searching for more.
Well, its a decent chianti. These days, you're lucky if you don't choke on a bottle they're so bad, so lets give this one credit for being absolutely drinkable, especially for those who like dry wines. Its not too bitter or too sweet, but its NOT complex, so don't expect a Brunello(you weren't though, right?). I'm surprised other reviewers go on and on about its characteristics, its not packed with character!
