Castello di Volpaia Citto 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

This baby Supertuscan Citto' or 'young boy,' is a blend of declassified juice from Chianti Classico with Cabernet Sauvignon from Volpaia's Maremma property. 65% Sangiovese and 35% Cabernet. The Sangiovese provides the telltale Tuscan red and black cherry flavor profile, while the Cabernet provides the muscle. Vivid ruby in color. Aromas of ripe red fruit, leather and grilled meat on the nose lead to sour cherry on the palate with a firm backbone of acidity and grippy, young tannins. Perfect with roasted or grilled meats and pasta with red sauce. Drink 2012-2016.

Thus Volpaia is not just another magnificent tourist attraction, but a thriving hive of activity whose inhabitants are all directly or indirectly involved in the winery. Volpaia is committed to Organic farming and is certified organic for all its wines.
