Castello di Querceto Chianti Classico 2008
Editorial Reviews for Castello di Querceto Chianti Classico
Soft and lightly smoky on the nose with gentle herb and tobacco notes accenting the core of slightly funky boysenberry fruit. This is light and fairly fruity in the mouth, with soft, very supple tannins and a lovely core of boysenberry/wild cherry fruit that has a light sweet and sour edge to it. The acid and a really nice mineral layer emerge on the back end, lending brightness and freshness to the modest finish. Nothing fancy, just easy to enjoy, straight-forward Chianti here. 85pts
Dark and earthy, bitter chocolate bark with cherries and cedar. Rich and flavorful. Definitely tastes more expensive than it is.
Has a nice perfume with a fruity bouquet, lots of raspberries and red cherries. The texture is soft and rich in fruit juicy- a lot less complex and intriguing than the 2005 vintage. Berries and black cheery, finishes dry with light tannins. Ok to drink on is own, or pair with some light foods.

Sweet raspberry and flowers on the nose lead to a medium body, with delicate tannins and a light vanilla bean finish. Drink now. 15,000 cases made. -JS Wine Spectator. A Sangiovese wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2008 Castello di Querceto Chianti Classico 750ml

88 Points - The Wine Advocate"The 2008 Chianti Classico Querceto is an attractive, mid-weight Chianti with plenty of bright Sangiovese red fruit and lovely overall balance. The fruit turns a touch darker and richer as the wine sits in the glass, but this remains a fresh, vinous Chianti best enjoyed in its youth. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013."88 Points - International Wine Cellar"Bright red. Reticent aromas of redcurrant, cardamom and lily. Enters vibrant and fresh, but with somewhat unforthcoming flavors of redcurrant, dark cherry and minerals. The tannins are ripe but today this finishes a bit chunky; seems to need another year in the bottle to develop further complexity."Winemaker's notes:Brilliant ruby red with a delicate and appealing bouquet. Dry and balanced, with a soft and elegant body. Pair with red meat dishes and cheese.
