Castello di Meleto Rosso Toscano 2012

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

The 2007 Rosso Toscano shows more plumpness and depth than the 2008, along with a darker profile of wild cherries, herbs, leather and licorice. A plush, polished close rounds things out in style. There is plenty of 2007 vintage character here. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.

My waiter recommended this 3/14/09 at a very nice restuarant and was truly surprised at how full bodied and rich it tasted. Quite the bargain too.

Medium ruby. Fresh, uncomplicated nose redolent of redcurrant and red cherry. The palate offers more red cherry and raspberry, with youthfully chewy, almost chalky tannins that beg for food. A simple but well-made wine that will pick up flesh and volume with food.

Wine Tasting NotesRuby red color with purple highlights. Intense aromas of fruit with hints of cherry and small berries. Medium structure and great balance. Pleasantly fresh with soft tannins that are well integrated into the alcohol component. Sweet finish with a good persistence. Perfect with pasta dishes and fresh cheeses. To be consumed slightly chilled.
