Bright red. Strawberry, red cherry and violet on the nose. Bright and fresh on the palate, with crunchy red fruit and mineral flavors carrying through on the lively, clean, long finish. With its bright fruit cocktail quality, this is an excellent example of just how much early appeal an easygoing Chianti can have. I was generous with my score given its yum factor. The 2010 Chianti Colli Senesi is a gorgeous wine at this level. Dark red cherries, flowers, mint, licorice and tobacco flesh out beautifully in this generous, inviting Chianti. The 2010 is a terrific wine for the money. Farnetella adds 8% Merlot to Sangiovese in the blend. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014.

A pristine wine of deep mulberry colour and dark cherry fruit, medium bodied with great depth of flavour and persistence. A better value in classy Chianti may be hard to find.
