A bit too concentrated for my liking. A bit too fruit-bomby, some would say "modern." Would have liked more structure of earth and acidity. Read more

This offers up rather intense notes of wild cherry, iris, iron, mint, sweet bay leaf, tobacco and gum all over subtle savory wood tones. This shows a rather developed edge on entry with some nice leafy elements and a softness to the tannins. There are plenty of unresolved tannins here and nice spiky acids, making this tense and bright on a palate. Delivers fine strawberry, wild cherry, leather and soft dried herb flavors over a subtle layer of creamy wood. The finish is firmer and darker with ashy notes and a lovely edge of nuttiness. Good length and dark fruit mark the finish as does a tiny bit of heat. 90pts

Sweeter than some other Chiantis, this very juicy and a bit soft.

Oak, cherry and vanilla. Soft but acidity makes it not smooth. Reminds me of curing herbs or even (and kind of gross) the silage shed of my uncle's dairy farm. Very nice complex aroma and taste.

This bottle simply requires patience. Upon opening, I could understand some of the tasting notes written before mine. The nose was a frontal assault of fruit and the palate followed with an odd citrus note that threw off my red wine sensors.. but with an hour of air in bottle, this really started to show some classic chianti classico features. The color of this wine was a deep ruby red that turned a burnt orange at the rim. The nose is very traditional as you are hit with sour cherry, barnyard, saddle leather and black pepper. On the palate I found an initial burst of red fruit with a hint of orange peel, which turned sweet and full on the mid palate. The finish showed roasted chestnut and cigar box. I can't help but call this wine classic, traditional... Italian. This IS Chianti Classico.

The 2007 Chianti Classico is a gorgeous wine graced with silky tannins, intensely perfumed fruit and an understated, elegant finish. Leather, spices, dried herbs and tobacco add complexity to the fruit, but it is the wine s impeccable sense of harmony that is most impressive. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.

The 2006 Chianti Classico (100% Sangiovese) is truly beautiful as it opens up in the glass, revealing tons of fruit in the powerful, ripe style that is typical of Castelnuovo. The wine possesses tons of stuffing and richness yet maintains notable clarity. Not only is this Chianti Classico a superb value, it can also challenge wines costing twice as much. Needless to say, it is highly recommended. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016. This is a superb set of wines from Castello di Bossi and proprietor Marco Bacci. The estate is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, the warmest and most southerly of the Chianti Classico villages, and the wines are loaded with Castelnuovo character.

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep, ruby-red in color, this Chianti Classico offers aromas of ripe charries and plums, with nuances of toasted oak and violets. on the palate, the wine displays a superb, full-structured character, all of which unfolds into an intensely savory finish. Pair with bean stews, bolognese sauces, tomato stews, and caponata.
