Castello del Poggio Barbera Barbera d'Asti 2008

Member Review by morgan99:

We had this wine about 5 nights at dinner on a recent cruise we took (vintage 2007). It is an excellent, smooth, lighter red that goes good with both meat & fish - not too powerful and very drinkable. Not too dry with hints of berries. These Barbera wines are very under-rated and still not very discovered - so their price points are very good!

The latest change in management, however, came in 1985, when the Zonin family acquired the property and eventually reunited the different territories and vineyards within the area. The property has almost 450 acres of land, with about 400 of that under vine. Thanks to the hard work of Corrado Surano, winemaker and manager of Castello del Poggio, the winery currently produces over 400,000 bottles of wine annually. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
