If you are searching for a romantic wine, search no further. This wine comes from a historical tale of a Princess Gavia who fell in love with a man in a lower class. They were forbidden to be together by her father, the King. They fled the area to continue their courtship only to be found by the King's men when the fiance drunkenly told the innkeeper of their escape. Once she was brought back to the kingdom, the King found his daughter truly did love this man and blessed their union. He named the town after his beloved Gavia and named the wine that "sealed their deal" Gavi. Considered to be one of Italy's most favorable dry white wines made from Cortese grapes harvested in Gavia. It brings a nice flair to Asian cuisine with its vibrant fruit salad appeal and stupendous acidity. It has a distinguishable personality and well-balanced finish that is a must try! It is a great alternative to Pinot Grigios that sometimes cannot hold up to the bold spices in American cuisine - not to mention, the romance it provides.

Light in weight, but slightly oily in texture, this Gavi packs in the basics: apple, pear and citrus fruit and a hint of almonds. Dry and citrusy on the finish, making it a candidate for seafood or assorted hors d'oeuvres.

Winemaker's Notes:

Considered the premier dry white wine of Italy, Principessa Gavia compares favorably with the world's noble wines. Superlative with a distinct personality, Principessa is fruity, fresh and crisp with a gentle acidity and balanced finish. An ideal accompaniment with all shellfish, it also marries well with fish, veal and grilled chicken, as well as with the delicate flavor variations of Japanese cuisine.
