Castello Banfi Col di Sasso Cabernet Sangiovese Wlochy Toscany Cuvee Castello Banfi Cabernet Sauvignon. Sangiovese 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

One of the best known and appreciated Banfi labels in the world, Col di Sasso, which translates to "Stony Hill", is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese cultivated on the most rocky and impervious slopes of the Banfi estate in Montalcino. The perfect marriage between these two grapes gives birth to a youthful yet concentrated and extremely fruity red wine.

This shows good richness, with cherry and berry flavors, but it's just a bit tight on the finish.

Intense aromas of blackberry and black cherry. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. Excellent value. Drink now through 2008.

A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is a ldquo;Super-Tuscanrdquo; in style, if not in price! The smooth, balanced flavors of fruit and spice would be delightful with roast chicken, pasta with red sauce, or meatloaf.

Production Area: Tuscany, Italy. Grape Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Description: Ruby red, with purple hues. Black cherry and spice aromas. Rich taste with soft tannins, delivering persistent black-fruit flavors and subtle hints of smoke, with a lingering finish. Col di Sasso, which translates to "Stony Hill," is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes cultivated in hillside vineyards in the southern part of Tuscany. The Cabernet imparts bold flavor and body, while the Sangiovese adds zesty fruit and structure. A relatively brief maceration (6-8 days) at 75-77˚F allows for good color extraction while maintaining aromatic freshness and tannic structure. Col di Sasso is a youthful red to be enjoyed with pizza, pasta, grilled meat and poultry. - Winery

Herersquo;s a ldquo;super Tuscanrdquo; that delivers with a super price! A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, this smooth and rich red is ready to drink today. Supple flavors of plum, dried apricot and cherry are supported by a gentle touch of oak.

The blackberry theme is augmented by thyme, sage and coffee accents in this rich red, which just lacks the harmony and length to be outstanding . Best from 2012 through 2020.
