Costers del Segre is a lesser-known wine-producing area in the provinces of Lerida and Tarragona. The Gotim Bru is a nicely structured Tempranillo/Cabernet/Merlot blend with good colour and a pervasive chocolate and vanilla aroma.

Castell del Remei:
This is a small DO od 3886 hectares, devided into 6 sub-zones. The area is characterized by calcareous soils and a Continental climate singularity sparse in rainfall.

Flavorful Spanish blend with a full bodied opening of berries and fig with a mouthfilling jammyness. Tannins are mostly integrated with just a bit of a bite on the finish. Great value from a not-so well known area of Spain. Have tried the 2008 and enjoyed that even more.

deep purple in color. Rich scent with spice (clove), blackberry. Smooth,lingers on the palate, longer finish, picked up hint of vanilla

The 2004 Gotim Bru is a blend of 60% Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot aged for 10 months in French and American oak. Purple-colored, it provides a fragrant nose of spice box, tobacco, blueberry, and blackberry. Firmly structured, medium to full-bodied, and layered, this ripe, tasty wine should evolve for 2-3 years but who is going to wait? It is an outstanding value.

Deep ruby. Intense dark cherry, licorice, espresso and vanilla notes on the nose, with floral and spicy elements. Quite spicy and concentrated, with intense flavors of bitter cherry, dark plum, cassis and licorice. Tangy acids provide lift, and there's an impressive penetrating quality to the dark fruit on the long finish. This is drinking beautifully right now.

A custom cuvée fashioned for the American importer, this barrel-aged blend of 60% Tempranillo and 40% Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon, is a big, muscular, formidably endowed Spanish red. Highly extracted, thick and rich, but less than charming at present, it will undoubtedly be better with 6-9 more months of bottle age. Consume it over the following 7-8 years.

A blend of Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has seen 10 months in one-to-two year American oak casks before bottling. Vivid, aromatic purple fruit, slightly resinous overtones, good energy, and an attractive minerally edge.

Deeply colored Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Aromas of strawberries, dried fruits and mineral on a slightly tight frame. Full-bodied red with lots of merlot's blue fruit characteristics.

There is only one word for a wine such as Castell dei Remei's 2000 Gotim Bru... awesome! This unfined/unfiltered, 12,000-case blend of 55% Tempranillo, 20% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color as well as sumptuous aromas of cedar, black currants, licorice, scorched earth, and graphite. It is full-bodied, sweet, and rich, with fabulous purity and texture. This compelling wine will age well for a decade, although who can resist the full-bodied, intense pleasures it currently offers. Readers seeking a restrained, politically correct, wimpy wine should look elsewhere. Amazing stuff!
