Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

User Reviews for Castell del Remei Red Blend Costers del Segre 1780

Winemaker's Notes:

Situated in the DO of Costers del Segre, 120 km northwest of Barcelona, Castell del Remei has been one of the pioneers of Catalan winemaking for over a century. The estate's 80 hectares of vineyards combine local varieties, Tempranillo, Garnacha and Macabeo, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The wines reflect this combination of international grapes, bringing together bright modern fruit with the substance and depth of high quality grapes from well tended, mature vineyards. Grapes are grown in the estates own vineyards in the province of Lleida. Situated at 270 metres above sea level, the area enjoys the benefits of the Mediterranean-continental climate. Castell del Remei 1780 is a deep and intense wine with expressive aromas of cassis, mulberry and balsamic notes. On the palate the dense black, almost dried fruit has a certain minerality from the high chalk content in the cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, with a slight spice on the finish. This is a voluptous wine with ripe and integrated fine tannins, bright acidity and a powerful black fruit and micha finish. It is the ideal partner to hearty meals, try with coq au vin or venison stew.
