Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino 2001
Excellent, silky tannins just as advertised. Leathery, deep dark prune aroma and similar flavours in the mouth. Nicely layered and satisfying. Would rate higher - except possibly a little pricey at north of $65 cdn...
($60) Ruby red color. Earthy on the nose, rose pedals, no fruity as a I expected. Red, bright fruit on the palate, moderate tannins. Enjoyable but will not be purchasing any.

Dark red cherry, smoke, plum, wild flowers and cedar are some of the notes that flesh out in the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino from Castelgiocondo. Ripe, soft and textured on the palate, the 2010 impresses for its silkiness and early approachability. Sweet floral and spiced notes reappear on the finish, adding considerable lift and perfume.
