Entiklar is situated in the southern part of South Tyrol (Unterland), where the wine road winds gently through the most attractive vineyards in the region. In this small hamlet, belonging to the village of Kurtatsch, blessed with a centuries-old tradition of winegrowing, there is a castle dating from the 12th century. This, together with the family name to the wine estate, Tiefenbrunner Castel Turmhof. The loamy, chalky soils and the Mediterranean climate – characterised by a moderate rainfall and a cool evening wind, which produces considerable differences between day and night temperatures – result in the perfect ripening of the cellars where they lend the wine its unmistakable character. A peculiarity of the Tiefenbrunner Castel Turmhof wine estate is the Müller Thurgau “Feldmarschall von Fenner”, cultivated at 1.000 meters above sea level. Viticulture at this altitude is unique Europe. Read less

Intensely aromatic with some underlying neutral oak character, spicy top notes, and a rush of apricot, and pear fruit On entry this is a bit soft but still bright with mineral and nicely measured oak flavors emerging from under the apricot and of apple fruit. This is a pretty sophisticated style of Pinot Grigio, nice and tense on the exceptionally long finish with a piercing apricot skin note lingering through the finale. 91pts

Very apple-scented with nuanced notes of apple blossoms. Bright acids in the mouth lend this good freshness and while there is good depth to the green apple fruit, the wine is a bit simple. Nice mouthfeel with a low hint of tannin on the finish. 87pts

Really nice Italian pinot grigio. A bit more stone fruit and softer acidity than your normal pinot gris. This comes across more like a Napa Sauv Blanc, well balanced and fresh but not overly citrusy.

Actually, 3.5+ stars. Color, this wine has a clean light nice color. Nose, I am picking some grassiness, apricot, green apple, lemon. It is very bright. Midpalate, clean, crisp, has little complexity, light. Finish, smooth, refreshing, clean, not really long but is ok, balanced. This is a decent and soled bottle of pinot grigio. I am 89+ on this effort. Bottled at 12.5%. Happy drinking!

Verführerischer Duft nach Rosen, im Mund füllig und rund, mit frischer Säure und langem Finale.

Light yellow to sandy-coloured in appearance, with an unobtrusive bouquet, and hints of pear and candied fruit. The strong harmonious structure emphasizes its dry full bodied taste and round finish. Tiefenbrunner Website

This wine is pale yellow in colour with green reflections. It has the pleasant aroma that characterizes the variety, with exotic fruit notes and a trace of meadow flowers. Slightly spicy, well-structured and full in the mouth, it has a lingering finish on the palate.

Cider apple and pear scents fill this simple, grapey pinot grigio. It's clean and straightforward. For the cocktail hour.

The estate's 2007 Pinot Grigio is a pretty, aromatic offering laced with white peaches, flowers and minerals in a style that is very representative of this part of Italy. Drink this clean, steely white over the next year or so. Note that this wine carries the broader Pinot Grigio delle Venezie designation which means the fruit can come from any of the regions in the Tri Veneto (Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli, Veneto). These bottlings rarely, if ever, have the same character as a pure DOC wines, which by definition are made in a much more narrowly-delimited area. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009.

The 2006 Pinot Grigio is slightly richer and sweeter than the Pinot Bianco with perfumed, honeyed fruit and a plump personality. Made from grapes sourced from the Tri-Veneto region (Veneto, Friuli and Alto Adige) it lacks some of the character of a single-region wine. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2008.
