Food Pairings for Castano Yecla Hecula
The Castaño family has 410 hectares of vineyards in Yecla in south eastern Spain. They have steadily improved quality over the last few years and modernised their style. They symbolise the best of what southern Spain has to offer: rich, warm climate wines made from grapes grown at altitude and transformed into robustly modern wines. This blend of 50% Macabeo and 50% Chardonnay is Light gold in colour with apple and melon perfumes on the nose with a hint of nuts. On the palate there is a hint of tropical fruit from the ripe, barrel-fermented Chardonnay which balances the lifted freshness of the zesty Macabeo.
