Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

(65% monastrell, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 20% tintorera; this special cuvee includes the oldest monastrell vines of the producer) Bright medium ruby. Smoky black raspberry, black cherry and roast coffee aromas. Then sweet and dense but rather suave in the mouth, with complex flavors of plum, coffee, olive and Provencal herbs. Has the underlying sweetness of material to support its firm tannins. The crop level for this cuvee was just 18 hectoliters per hectare, according to the American importer, and the wine was done entirely in French oak.

WA 90 IWC 90 Pts - Winemaker's Notes - Solenara is a special cuv e that includes fruit from Casta o's oldest Monastrell blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet). It is aged in French oak for close to a year (only 20% of which is new) before being bottled without fining or filtration.

The 2007 Solanera is a blend of 60% Monastrell, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Garnacha Tintorera (aka Alicante Bouschet) raised in 500-liter French oak. Dark ruby-colored with a brooding, smoky black and blue fruit bouquet, on the palate it is dense, rich, and mouth-filling. This outstanding value over-delivers in a big way.

Opaque purple. Powerful, seductively perfumed bouquet displays scents of blackberry, blueberry, dried flowers, incense and minerals. Deep but lively, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and a sexy violet pastille quality. Supple tannins gain strength with air and add grip to an impressively sweet, persistent finish. Very energetic and delicious right now.

The 2004 Solanera is a blend of 65% Monastrell, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Tintorera raised in French oak. More complex than its siblings, this purple-colored wine offers fragrant aromas of spice box, smoke, blueberry pie and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied, the wine is plush and full-flavored with enough structure to support several years of additional bottle age. It should drink well for 8ndash;10 years.
