Casillero del Diablo Carmenere 2011
Chile has taken the world by storm with the incredible wines that they produce at a great price, and Maipo Valley is known as one of the best areas for Cabernet Sauvignon. This 2011 Concha y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon has great black fruit with a plumy juiciness. The tannins are ripe and round. "The cool 2011 season isn’t apparent in this cabernet. Instead, it tastes of sweet fruit, with ripe flavors of figs and plums building through the finish. The texture is soft, with a thick velvet nap." - Wine & Spirits *Wine & Spirits: 90 pts.*

Shows good concentration to the ripe red fruit flavors, with notes of iron and graphite, lingering on the tannic finish. Drink now.
Powerful in its scale and ambition, this syrah shows the influence of the Andes in its rich in herbal notes and ripe red fruit. An opulent wine for a steak.
Dense, rich and full of dark fruit and spice flavors, supported by muscular tannins and acidity. The dried blackberry, black fig and smoke-infused cocoa powder notes feature some accents of dried meat. Best from 2015 through 2022. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 77,220 cases made. -KM Pencil eraser, blueberry, olive and peppery notes are what you draw off the bouquet of this ripe yet basic Cab. In the mouth, this feels rubbery and tannic. Flavors of ultraripe black fruits taste sweet and come with licorice and espresso bitterness on the finish, which is mossy, heavy and choppy. Deep ruby. Ripe cherry and dark berries on the spice-accented nose. Sappy and precise, displaying good lift and cut to its bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors. The spiciness comes back on the finish, which shows good energy and subtle tannic grip. Buin is a subzone of the Maipo Valley.

I enjoyed the 2011 Marques de Casa Concha Syrah Buin from the Buin appellation within Maipo, which aged in Burgundian French oak barrels (around 30% new). It has a nose of black and blue fruit, with hints of smoke. It’s a generous wine, with a medium-bodied palate and some chunky tannin from the barriques, ending with a note of dark chocolate. Drink 2015–2018.
...has a Burgundian bouquet of mineral, slate, baked apple, poached pear, and smoky oak. It has a viscous texture, layered, ripe fruit, and excellent length. It delivers more than most Chardonnays at 2-3 times the price.
