Casas del Bosque Pinot Noir Reserve 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Made from hand harvested grapes from the Casablanca Valley. The result is an elegant wine, well balanced and rounded. Casas del Bosque Pinot Noir Reserva 2005 has plum and cherry aromas with flowers and violet notes. On the palate, the oak adds smoke and vanilla with velvety tannins.

Casas del Bosque is located 70 km from Santiago, the capital of Chile, and 30 km from one of the principal ports of Chile, Valparaiso. It was conceived in 1993 to be a family boutique winery exclusively oriented to the production of e high quality wines. Casas del Bosque has its own vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, a privileged place for premium wine production. It guarantees that our entire grape production and all its treatment is carefully handled and controlled by us, leading to the highest quality. Currently, Casas del Bosque has 245 productive hectares of White vines; Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, and red vines; Syrah, Pinot Noir and Merlot. Besides, our Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère comes from grapes that grow in the Rapel Valley, many of wich are 35 years or older. Nowadays, Casas del Bosque is recognized as a vineyard specialized in Sauvignon Blanc wine in Chile; their Pinot Noir and Syrah are also excellent wines. Our production reaches 75.000 cases per year. This is one of the reasons we choose to be a boutique winery: working with small quantities makes it possible to maintain the practices neccessary to produce the best quality of wines, as we have stated. Over 80% of our production is exported to the most demanding markets abroad. Read less

Loved this wine when I was eating vineyard-side in the Casa Blanca valley of Chile, and 5 years later on this rainy night,(my favorite time to drink Pinot), it's exceptional. Smooth and smoky, very rich in berry and not to strong on the alcohol. The bouquet is complex and it rolls around in your mouth.
