This is very ripe, verging on raisin. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a lot of dried fruits on the palate, like fruitcake. Slightly overdone, but still likeable for its character and richness. Cabernet Sauvignon. Best after 2011.

The 2006 Pietradonice (Cabernet Sauvignon) explodes from the glass with the essence of blackberry jam, French oak, grilled herbs, and cassis. This super-ripe, opulent wine offers tons of elegance and finesse in a full-bodied style. The tannins are firm but ripe, and beautifully balanced by the wine's radiant, warm fruit. This is a gem from proprietor Giacomo Neri. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2026.

Fantastic aromas of crushed blackberry, raspberry and cherry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with a solid core of tannins and a long, long finish. Dense yet refined, with excellent richness and structure. This is stunning and only the second year from Brunello's great producer. 95 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 5 percent Sangiovese. Best after 2007.
