Casal Garcia Vinho Verde 2012
The name "Vino Verde" literally translates to "Green Wine" referring to the light, greenish tint of the wine's color. This white is released only once a year and is meant to be enjoyed while it is young and fresh! The wine has a citrine color and a clear appearance with a ver y delicate and slightly fruity aroma. On the palate this is a fresh, smooth and well-balanced wine.Cheese Pairings: Drunken Goat, Chevre, CheshireFood Pairings: Crab Cakes, Roasted Duck, Sauteed Shelfish
Editorial Reviews for Casal Garcia Vinho Verde
Lime peel, a little white peach pit and dusty mineral notes with a lightly floral top note greets the nose. This is bright, juicy in the mouth with lovely fruit that is bright with a hint of orange oil over lime flavors and a nice hint of sweetness on the tart finish. Supremely refreshing. 86pts
Well summer has arrived with a vengeance in New York. The humidity is creeping up along with the temperature and that makes me yearn for a light, crisp, refreshing white, and with with modest alcohol please. I'm thinking of wine that well serve not only to refresh the palate, but also the body so there's no need to make it cerebral and the Casal Garcia Vinho Verde does just that. This is simple, sapid wine with clear citrus flavors a touch of effervescence and a cleansing, refreshing acid driven finish. The alcohol is right about 11% so you won't have to worry too much if you end up over indulging, and the best part? This is just a smashing match for the chilled seafood and light fish dishes that the summer beckons for. 85pts
Four and a half glasses
Delicious white wine. So refreshing with notes of lime, grapefruit peel and peach pits. Crisp and clean with a nice acidic finish. Goes great with shrimp. Such a steal for $6.99. I'm going to stock up on this one for next summer
This wine is almost clear. Hints of lemon. It has some effervescence but not as much as a sparkling wine. Very dry, simple but nice. Great wine for the price point.
A nice easy wine - perfect for warm summer days. A bit tart and has a little fizz. Not for everyone! A great wine for those that are new to drinking wine.
Boring. V Day 2009
Surprisingly tasty for a $6 bottle of wine - very refreshing, a slight fizz when first opening the bottle. Light and clean finish.
Light, refreshing and slightly "effervescent." Slightly sweet, but not too much for the heat outside. Grapefruit on the nose and grass and citrus on the palate.

Rich depth of flavor, crisp green apple, fresh squeezed lemon, with a very subtle effervescence and a lengthy finish on the palate.
Think of this as a refreshing take on peach and lime soda — it has plenty of fizz, talc-edged acidity and gentle fruit. Chill this for any fresh shellfish.
