Casa Valduga Cabernet Franc Reserva 2007

External Review by Wine Gems @ Perriello's:

Vale dos Vinhedos, BrazilCasa Valduga Cabernet Franc Reserva is only our second wine gem from Brazil, following the winery's flagship wine, Casa Valduga Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva. The history of Brazilian winemaking began in 1875, when northern Italian immigrants settled in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil, and began planting vines. The Valduga family arrived in 1875 and planted vineyards in the Vale dos Vinhedos. Today the winery is run by three Valduga brothers--Erielso, Juarez and Joao--who carry on their family's passion for wine. Casa Valduga has come to be regarded as the best winery in Brazil. The P Collection by Casa Valduga is a line of fine wines made only in special vintages from grapes hand-picked from the estate's vineyards and estate-bottled. This Cabernet Franc Reserva is an excellent introduction to this varietal best known in the Loire and Bordeaux regions of France.Casa Valduga Cabernet Franc Reserva is deep ruby in color with medium-full body and ripe tannins. It offers a delicate bouquet of ripe red fruits, vanilla, almond and spices and rich flavors of blackberries, plums and chocolate. Well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 5-6 years, it is long and smooth on the finish. Enjoy Casa Valduga Cabernet Franc Reserva with steak, BBQ ribs, beef empanadas and aged cheeses.

Casa Valduga:
One of the biggest Brazilian producers of fine wine. Lots of technology and proffessional efforts make its large range of wines always very reliable. Its Gran Reserva Brut and Nature are fantastic.
