Extremely vegetal aromas, very well balanced, with bunches of cherry and raspberry fruit. Very smooth and vegetal, more herbal on the palate than I might have imagined, but very pleasant. Like the balance.
Lots of black pepper in this wine, with a bit of dark fruit and oak. Sharp bitter texture on the mouth. The pepper is too much for me to enjoy regularly, but there is some interesting complexity behind it, w/ stone fruit and grass.
Dark purple color. Medium bodied with a fruit forward palate that caught me by surprise. Slight floral aroma on the nose. Herbal palate with hints of plum and a strong cherry aspect. Slightly acidic through the finish.
Nose of lush, dark blackberry and boysenberry fruit with hints of licorice and some herbal tones. On the palate, fresh, pure blue and black fruit flavors. Concentrated fruit. Some spice on the mid palate. Tarry, tobacco finish. Dry and lingering finish.
Densely colored, it's dark and inky. Sour cherry on the nose with violets and a slight metallic tone. also, some baking spice. It has very bright acid. It ends up being lighter bodied than expected. I didn't feel it showed enough complexity to balance the acid. Odd since apparently I tasted this before and thought much more of it.
On the nose, I found blackberry, chalk dust, green bell pepper and manure. On the palate, it was big yet balanced, showing wild berries, more green pepper leading to a cough syrup like finish. Looking back on my notes, I feel as if these descriptors fail to do this wine justice. The fact is, it was highly enjoyable in a gripping and earthy way.
