Casa Larga Chardonnay Finger Lakes French Oak Reserve NV

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Rather oaky on the nose but note spicy oak, rather dry, nutty, earthy oak over dry, earthy fruit. A bit sweet on the palate though with balancing acids making this soft and easy to drink if a bit too viscous and slightly cloying for me. Lot's of bright, lemon tinged apple and pear fruit on the palate yields to a lightly sweet, lightly tannic almond/marzipan toned finish with good length and a flourish of peach on the finale. This smells a little dank but is actually rather well made for what it is. 86pts

Thereandrsquo;s a curtain of smoke and char that hides all the sweet, fresh apple tones on this creamy, full-bodied Chardonnay. When the smoke subsides, it reveals a fairly balanced wine with subtle vanilla and fruit characteristics throughout. Great companion for smoked cheese and charcuterie.

A blend of estate-grown grapes aged in several different types of oak this wine will please those looking for a fruit forward Chardonnay with plenty of ripe butterscotch and spicy vanilla flavor.
