Very nice wine. Round and full, nice fruit, nice mid palette, great nose of black cherry, white pepper, and even a little blueberry. Smooth and a long interesting finish with great mouth feel.

Wine Tasting NotesIntense red ruby color. An expressive nose with elegant aromas of red fruits like ripe strawberries and currant. In mouth the "attaque" is perfumed with red and black fruits, such as blackberries and cherries. In the medium palate this elegant wine is supported by a really good structure with fine and delicate tannins. The end of mouth is persistent and suggests coffee notes.
(includes 15% carmenere) Exotic aromas of red- and blackcurrant, raisin bread and baking spices. Lush, gently sweet dark berry flavors are enlivened by cracked pepper and a sexy cinnamon quality. Packs serious punch but carries no excess weight. The finish repeats the spicy note and lingers impressively. Muscular, with broad cocoa and plum sauce notes leading the way for an ample core of currant confiture and licorice. The rock-solid finish will need some cellaring to stretch out. Best from 2009 through 2011. 20,337 cases made. -JM Cuvée Alexandre is one of Chile's best Merlots, and consistency is its main virtue. Every year it shows fine ripeness, weight and enough complexity to draw attention. In 2006 the wine offers graphite, spice and blackberry aromas backed by lively black currant, blackberry and bitter chocolate flavors. A yummy wine with a touch of butter and vanilla on the finish. Drink now through 2010. - M.S. The 2006 Merlot Apalta Vineyard "Cuvee Alexandre", a purple-colored offering with aromas of cedar, spice box, black cherry, and black currant. This is followed by a smooth-textured, ripe Merlot with ample savory black fruits, good depth, and a moderately long finish. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.
This rich and lovely expression of Merlot is produced in Chile. Plummy fruit is wrapped in a velvety-smooth texture that only the best Merlots exhibit. Enjoy this with beef stews and braises.
