- Rich, furry with the ripeness of the 1999 but without its freshness although it still offers enormous pleasure. (It certainly impressed some very eminent Pomerol producers when served blind to them in May 2002.) Very sweet with notes of violets and quite a hot, gamey finish.

- Rich, dark, mysterious nose, exotic depth. Very firm tannin overplays the fruit for the moment. Decent length to finish; hold on to.
