Dark fruit aromas, blackberry, black cherry, black currants with a touch of spice. On the palate heavy dark fruit, full textured body, some leather and cedar notes, tannic structure well, a little meaty, loads of darkness, hot cocoa, some heat, would be amazing with steak night.

bottle says it can age for 10 years... thats questionable to say the least. This wine isnt bad, dirty nose, bark, stone, plummy. For the $ its a solid pick.
I can't quite remember exactly how this bottle tasted (no, I didn't black out from getting shit-faced) as it was awhile ago and I never reviewed it sooner. Other than the label, the wine doesn't stick out in my memory too much; therefore, I know it was a good bottle of wine but not the best...this review isn't helpful at all.
Autumn berries fruits with hints of cinnamon with young and intense bright purple red. Very clean and intense aromas with delightfully fresh red fruit and black pepper dominating the nose. Well structured and juicy tannins that evolve towards a fresh and mouth-watering natural acidity in the mid palate. The finish is long and shows a light touch of oak. Just fantastic with pasta cannelloni bolognese, and light red meats. Great for garden and entertainment.
Good solid Cab. Tight structure, nicely balanced - not too tannic. Cherry/berry fruit with hints of coffee bean/cocoa. Nice clean finish. Let it breath a for a bit. A steal at under 10 bucks.

With its second outstanding Merlot vintage in a row, this winery is quickly emerging as one of Chilersquo;s leaders in red wines. Owner Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle and consulting winemaker Michel Rolland have created a state-of-the-art winery in the up-and-coming Colchagua region and are perfecting a lush, international style that is taking local fruit to world-class levels.
hellip;a joint venture between the Rabat family and the Marnier-Lapostolle family (of Grand Marnier); the wine is made under the guidance of Michel Rolland, the consultant from Pomerol; and the Cuvee Alexander Merlot, the best of Lapostollersquo;s wines, is stunning. The rsquo;95 is generous and elegant, a combination rarely achieved outside of Bordeauxrsquo;s best properties. Packed with the flavor of fresh cherries, itrsquo;s clean and finely textured.
This well-integrated Chilean red boasts rich flavors and a good backbone of fine tannins. Itrsquo;s thick and plush, with loads of dark plum, blackberry, currant and dark chocolate flavors that linger on the finish. Delicious now, but has the stuffing to age well, too. Drink through 2001.
I cannot think of another Merlot produced anywhere in the world that consistently comes close to this qualityhellip; at this price. The 1996 Cuveacute;e Alexandre boasts a dense, opaque purple color, as well as knock-out aromatics of chocolate, and sweet black berry and cherry fruit, followed by explosive richness on the palate, low acidity, a sumptuous, lush mouthfeel, nicely integrated oak, and a layered, glycerin-enhanced finish. Drink this wine over the next 5ndash;6 years.
Smoky, with a slightly firm edge to the raspberry and dark plum fruit. Coffee and loam hints frame the finish. Drink now.
A bold smoky note introduces this dense red, with plum, blackberry and raspberry flavors and firm tannins. Very good, ripe, solid Merlot. Drink now.
I was recently given the opportunity to re-taste the medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Merlot and found, to my dismay, that I had underrated this wine in Issue #140 (87 points). Its almost Burgundian nose of sweet cherries is followed by a concentrated, broad, harmonious charcter loaded with elegant layers of red and black fruits. I had discerned a note of greenness in the wine's finish, but in this tasting, the wine was superb, with supple, superbly ripened tannin.
