Stunning purity, with concentrated plum, boysenberry and raspberry fruit that just glides across the palate, buttressed by superfine yet muscular tannins. Suave toast, coconut butter and spice notes along with alluring chocolate and black tea hints chime in on the long finish. A superb combination of fruit and elegance. Drink now through 2009.

Deep ruby. Oak-spicy aromas of clove, nutmeg, cocoa powder, espresso and preserves. The intense spice character carries through in the mouth, where there’s a sweet red berry tone and lush, silky texture. This clearly has great material and is plenty sweet but it’s a shame that the wood is so dominant.

Beautiful color, with vivid boysenberry and blackberry fruit flavors that easily handle the layers of vanilla-tinged toast. Roasted herb, briar and black currant notes run through the finish, which shows the firm edge of the vintage, but a superb effort nonetheless. Carmenandegrave;re. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2009.

Saturated and rich, with meaty, forceful aromas of black fruit, molasses and toasted marshmallows. A blend of Carmenandegrave;re, Cabernet and Merlot thatandrsquo;s full of cassis, black cherry and a light herbaceousness. Lush but structured; a real big boy.

Loads of ripe fruit, with plum, blackberry and boysenberry flavors pumping through, backed by suave, mocha-infused toast, mineral and spice notes. Long, fleshy finish has some serious grip. Carmenere and Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2007 through 2012.

Winemaker's Notes:

Clos Apalta is the ultimate expression of Casa Lapostolle's dedication to quality made from the best grapes from our Apalta vineyard. This wine, not produced every year, is a belnd of Merlot, Carmenere, and Cabernet Sauvignon from 60-100 year old pre-phylloxera vines.
