Food Pairings for Casa Lapostolle Chardonnay Cuvee Alexander Atalayas Vineyard Casablanca Valley
Dark purple color, right up to the rim. Blackberry, plum, white pepper, and vanilla on the nose. Similar notes on the palate with plum, licorice, smoke, and cracked pepper flavors. Soft tannins and medium acidity. Medium body but medium+ intensity. High, but well integrated alcohol (15%).

This is a really solid bottle for $15. Lots of cherry, blackberry notes, and spice. Good balance and a creamy mouth feel. I am excited to find a bottle this good at this price point.
Lovely dusty nose of dark berry fruit with hints of nutmeg, wet stone, tar and black pepper. Big minerality among the cassis, currant and black/blueberry fruit. On the palate it's richly textured, full bodied and lush. Marked minerality on the palate with roasty notes and dark berry fruit. Tight acid and tannin yet so this should get better with another couple of years in the bottle. Great structure and this would do well with food. Sweeter berry notes on the lengthy but dry finish. 91 pts.
No staying power in fridge. Over oaked.

The 2005 Chardonnay ldquo;Cuvee Alexandre ndash; Atalayas Vineyardrdquo; is a refined wine with nuances of vanilla, buttered toast, butterscotch, and tropical fruit flavors along with well-integrated oak. This nicely balanced, layered wine should drink well for the next 18ndash;24 months.
As Chilean Chardonnays go, this single-vineyard bottling from Lapostolle is smooth and toasty, with plenty of vanilla, smoke and tropical fruit aromas. The vintage was a good one, and thatrsquo;s reflected in the winersquo;s body, which is hefty and broad but nicely balanced by freshening acids. If you like vanilla and toast accenting ripe New World flavors, this is for you.
The 1999 Chardonnay Cuveacute;e Alexandre has a nose reminiscent of a premier cru Meursault with ripe white/yellow fruits intermingled with hazelnuts and minerals. The wine is medium-bodied and possesses excellent concentration. It has outstanding depth to its pear, toast, apple, and anise flavors. Having had the pleasure of tasting older vintages of this wine, and having witnessed their capacity to evolve beautifully, I wouldnrsquo;t be surprised if this wine would merit an outstanding score in two or three years. Projected maturity: nowndash;2007.
This is a ripe and moderately toasty white, exhibiting flavors of creamy fig, pear and brioche, followed by a lush finish that shows a lingering note of hazelnut. Drink now. 10,638 cases made. -JM
Pale gold. Impressively complex bouquet evokes smoky pear, peach, iodine and truffle; smells like a wine from Chassagne-Montrachet. Juicy pit fruit flavors are firmed by dusty minerals, picking up slight warmth on the close. A rich, palate-staining and very persistent chardonnay, but the element of heat is bothersome.
Nicely focused, with a racy core of fig, hazelnut and pear notes that stays pure and elegant as the toasty edge remains in the background. The finish is long and juicy. Very stylish. Drink now through 2008.
Buttery and rich, this is probably Lapostollersquo;s best Chardonnay to date; it has sweet, alluring baked pear, apple and peach aromas followed by an intensely toasty but balanced palate that shows flavors of papaya, banana, pear and fine French oak. A wine to drink as soon as you can pop the cork.
Wine Tasting Notes Clean and bright yellow with lime hints. Expressive and clean notes of the Casablanca Origin. Aromas of tropical fruit: papaya, mango, licci and also apricots. Notes of citrus like mandarin and lime. Very pleasant, fresh acidity in an appealing balance with subtle sweet spices of the oak finishing towards a long and lasting round palate.
