Casa Lapostolle Chardonnay Cuvee Alexander Atalayas Vineyard Casablanca Valley 2009
Wine Tasting Notes Clean and bright yellow with lime hints. Expressive and clean notes of the Casablanca Origin. Aromas of tropical fruit: papaya, mango, licci and also apricots. Notes of citrus like mandarin and lime. Very pleasant, fresh acidity in an appealing balance with subtle sweet spices of the oak finishing towards a long and lasting round palate.
Lapostolle was founded by the legendary family behind Grand Marnier. Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle brought French winemaking practices to Chile, where she was a pioneer in leading the development of fine quality wines. The winery uses organic and biodynamic practices, and the wines are consistently rated 90+ points. Most recently, Wine Enthusiast named Lapostolle “New World Winery of the Year” in 2008.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
Dark purple color, right up to the rim. Blackberry, plum, white pepper, and vanilla on the nose. Similar notes on the palate with plum, licorice, smoke, and cracked pepper flavors. Soft tannins and medium acidity. Medium body but medium+ intensity. High, but well integrated alcohol (15%).
layers of raspberry and blackberry fruit, some bosenberry too, red spices with cinnamon touches, really nice!
bold creamy rasberry fruit, awesome complexity of flavors, loaded with berry fruits
This is a really solid bottle for $15. Lots of cherry, blackberry notes, and spice. Good balance and a creamy mouth feel. I am excited to find a bottle this good at this price point.
Lovely dusty nose of dark berry fruit with hints of nutmeg, wet stone, tar and black pepper. Big minerality among the cassis, currant and black/blueberry fruit. On the palate it's richly textured, full bodied and lush. Marked minerality on the palate with roasty notes and dark berry fruit. Tight acid and tannin yet so this should get better with another couple of years in the bottle. Great structure and this would do well with food. Sweeter berry notes on the lengthy but dry finish. 91 pts.
No staying power in fridge. Over oaked.

Light to medium-bodied and silky textured, the 2003 Chardonnay Cuvee Alexandre Atalayas Vineyard offers aromas of spiced pear and vanilla. Fresh apple, pear and oak notes are found in its expressive, well-crafted core. Drink it over the next year.
Subtle at first, with toast and candied-pear notes, this slowly yields layers of apple, fig, honeysuckle and minerals, all carried by a long, juicy finish. This really opens up in the glass but stays remarkably elegant. Drink now.
Light gold. Exotic aromas of smoked meat, poached pear, yellow plum and oak spices. Weighty but precise on the palate, offering lively citrus and pit fruit flavors and a jolt of candied licorice. The oak spice repeats on the finish, which is broad and gently sweet.
Very stylish, with nice underlying richness as the suave toast melds into the pear tartine, Jonagold apple and floral notes. The long, creamy finish has nice lingering minerality. Drink now through 2010.
Rich and stylish, with pear, fig, hazelnut and brioche notes that run through the rich, lengthy finish. A nice mineral hint really stretches it out. Drink now.
Deep purple inky red color. On the nose, focused, with a very special purity of fresh black and red fruit and elegant herbs aromas. Elegant and balance on the palate with silky and juicy tannins. More fruit flavors and a very long finish.
The 1999 Chardonnay Cuveacute;e Alexandre has a nose reminiscent of a premier cru Meursault with ripe white/yellow fruits intermingled with hazelnuts and minerals. The wine is medium-bodied and possesses excellent concentration. It has outstanding depth to its pear, toast, apple, and anise flavors. Having had the pleasure of tasting older vintages of this wine, and having witnessed their capacity to evolve beautifully, I wouldnrsquo;t be surprised if this wine would merit an outstanding score in two or three years. Projected maturity: nowndash;2007.
