The 2001 Chardonnay displays spicy pear scents. On the palate, this light to medium-bodied wine exhibits crisp apple and butterscotch flavors. It should be consumed over the next 18 months.

Grown on north-facing slopes in the cool Casablanca Valley, this coastal Chardonnay achieves a pineapple ripeness while holding to firm, enlivening acidity. It's well made, its roundness of very ripe, spicy fruit contrasting with its underlying structure.

Yellow straw. Medium-bodied. Balanced acidity. Moderately extracted. Moderately oaked. Figs, vanilla, citrus. Richly textured, with pleasant, pervasive oak notes and a lingering finish.

This round, fresh and stylish Chardonnay from the Casablanca Valley is a step up from the middling 2000 version. The bouquet yields ample pear, almond and coconut aromas, while the palate is loaded with pear fruit and a hint of oak-driven smoke. Classy and concise, and better made than almost every other similarly priced Chardonnay.
