Nice Chardonnay a little more 'toasty' on the back than I wanted...but I do want to try this again
i am lost to as why it is described as a 'dessert' wine. not at all, but a solid, dinner wine.
Complex, red fruit and cherry yields to prune with a backdrop of oak. Finishes with slight chalk. Tannins are well structured but slightly overbearing. Melliws well with some air to make a fine table wine.
Consistently an amazing wine. this one is a little young, but based on the track record of the wine, I am sure will show its stuff in a few years.

Steady more than flashy or exotic. There is no shortage of cassis, berry and plum aromas, and the palate is packed, tannic and brings the full allotment of berry, plum and cassis flavors. Right now itrsquo;s a bit rough and tough, but that means it should hold for several more years.
Bright and bold, with forceful berry aromas in front of dark, saturated fruit flavors. Medium to full in weight, with a sturdy tannic structure. Shows a big spice, pepper and chocolate element on the finish. Typically large and satisfying.
Rich and polished, with a solid core of blackberry and black currant fruit layered with mocha, sweet spice and briar notes. Shows more purity and freshness, with less toast, than previous vintages. This finish is long and juicy. Drink now through 2008.
Chunky Cab, with dark raspberry and blackberry fruit pushed by firm cocoa and toast notes. More dark, bacony toast on the finish. Solid, if a bit square in the end. Drink now through 2008.
Medium ruby. Precise aromas of cherry, red plum, cured tobacco and pepper. Juicy and bright, showing tangy red currant and spice flavors that open and build with aeration. An elegant, textured midweight, finishing with impressive lift and a sweet note of mocha.
Really juicy and ripe, with fleshy layers of sweet raspberry and boysenberry fruit riding along red licorice, fruitcake and a nicely embedded vanilla streak. Long, polished finish. Very tasty. Drink now through 2010.
Dark red. Lively dark berry aromas are complemented by sexy floral and spice qualities, along with a gentle note of graphite. juicy and impressively precise, offering sweet, medium-weight blackberry, cassis and rose pastille flavors. Dusty tannins build with air, adding solid structural support to the long, sappy finish. Pretty seductive stuff.
#49 of Wine Enthusiast Top 100 of 2012 "Clos Apalta, depending on your point of view, is arguably Chile’s best wine. And this vintage is outstanding! Earth, minty spice, ripe berry, minerality and smoky aromas cover the bases. It’s superbly structured, with a fine texture and depth. Tastes lush and complex, with blackberry, crème de cassis, fine herbs and tobacco. Finishes classy...95" WE 2/12 "Fine-tuned and expressive, yet focused, this red has terrific display of dark, racy blackberry, boysenberry and braised fig flavors finely woven with spice, mesquite and cured olive hints. Silky tannins frame the long finish, with an aftertaste of fruit and mocha. Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot...92" WS 2/12
