Casa de Paços Touriga Nacional Rosé 2007
With four centuries of making wine, the Quinta de Paços wines are recorded in history. In 1876 in Philadelphia for the USA Century Celebration the wines were described as having very good flavours and aromas. A family owned company, the wines produced are of high quality and with unique character. With a Tourigal Nacional herbal nose, this is a raspberry-infused refreshing rosé wine.
Very light in color with just the slightest fizz. Almost smokey on the nose, it's like the night after the fire mixed with minerals and faint citrus. Light touches of grass and goosberry sit in the background. Great acidity in the mouth of this fleshy wine that seems to make me salivate. Juicy and full of sweet tart flavors, lemony citrus, and a touch of exotic pineapple and passion fruit. Not a blunt wine but rather something that makes you delve into it to fully understand it. Wow.
Light white gold in color with a beautiful, gorgeous, and sensuous white flower, passion fruit and bbq smoke on the nose that draws you in from a mile away. Incredibly fresh with a touch of creamy herbal notes as well. Vibrant in the mouth with a juicy medium body mouthfeel and an addictive honey, minerals and more passionfruit on the finish. Add a touch of canned pineapple and you've got a lovely wine that I would happily pair either with a goat cheese and walnut salad or simply alone.
Bright red color with medium intensity, the nose on this wine is fresh and lively. Cherry twizzler, with a touch of mint(?) and rose hop like floralness. The typical violets are muted, though they are there with a nice touch of minerality. In the mouth this wine has a nice strong acidity with a flavor profile that is somewhat mature while still being playful. Cherry is dominate, though cranberry and light floral touches. Zesty in the mouth with a freshness that I appreciate. Bring on the grilled sardines, or any other fresh fish on the fire!
