Carver-Sutro Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard 2009
The Palisades Vineyard is located in Calistoga in the North east corner of the Napa Valley. The site is in a small canyon that gets a constant breeze moving through the vines. Petite Sirah is very susceptable to botrytis so these breezes keep the fruit dry and healthy. This is a Grand Cru Petite Sirah site! The famous Petite Sirahs from Stags Leap came from this site and they still buy fruit today.

Rich and complex, with espresso, clove, star anise and cedar aromatics to complement the ripe blackberry and huckleberry notes, accented by sarsaparilla and toast details. The tannins are thick and velvety. Drink now through 2025.
The 2009 Petite Sirah is fleshy, ripe and totally beautiful. The flavor profile tends towards dark red rather than black fruit, along with flowers, licorice and tobacco. Whereas the 2008 needs more time in bottle, the 2009 does not. It is a wonderfully open, seductive wine to drink now and over the next 7–10 years. This is a richer, more generous style than the 2008, and is a better choice for drinking today. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2024.
